Greenbrier-Astra Rail

The combination of Greenbrier and Astra Rail creates Europe's largest end-to-end freight railcar manufacturing, engineering and repair business to reach markets throughout Europe, Eurasia, and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries like Saudi Arabia. In 2015 Greenbrier acquired a 19.5% stake in Brazilian freight railcar manufacturer Greenbrier-Maxion, which holds a 70% market share in the growing South American new freight car market.  In 2017 Greenbrier increased its ownership position to 60%.
